Each covered participant with prescription drug coverage will receive a Drug Card that allows for the purchase of either brand name or generic drugs at more than 50,000 pharmacies nationwide. This DISCOUNTED Prescriptive Drug Plan is exclusive to PlatinumPLUS. The employee simply presents the card, obtains pricing on both a brand and generic purchase (if available) directly from the pharmacist and makes a decision. The discounted price is provided in each case. The scheduled benefit payment is applied to the discounted cost of the drug(s), seamlessly for the participant, at the point of sale.
Participating pharmacies include: Albertsons, Brooks, Costco, Eckerd, Kmart, Kroger, Meijer, Osco, Pathmark, Publix, Rite Aid, Safeway, Sav-On, Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreen’s, scores of others as well as independent pharmacies.
Employees receive helpful information about mail orders, Advantage90, generic drug alternatives and a pharmacy locator along with their discount card. The information as described above, reference options and cost can be obtained on-line before the employee ever contacts a pharmacy.
For individuals on maintenance drugs, a retail program called Advantage90 offers 90-day drug supplies at discounts, as well as a discounted mail order program. Drugs are ordered for a 90 days period and the order counts as one prescription. This is very important to those who have a plan that allows 5 prescriptions per year.
